After a 21 day shoot using 1/3rd scale puppets and actors (Javier Botet and Rufus White) the elements were combined in After Effects, so what you see in the completed video is a mash up of those two approaches. Shots initially storyboarded, then shot in miniature, then once again life size, composited together.
Charles Mather was the lead producer on the production, expertly drawing talent from five continents: The puppets were made by my friends at Odd Studio, making seamless third scale representations of the full size figures. Javier Bodet was scanned at DFX by the wonderful David Marti in a variety of poses, and Kerrin Jackson provided some great bladder work. Josh Head did some crazy animatronics that hynotised the crew for half a day and finally Colin Elves shot it all beautifully! Not to forget Lucia Burghi Gonzales' incredible catering of course (The most important part of any production). Behind the scenes footage by Douglas Pledger.
